Valdo Eyewear: High Standards

Design director Lauren Howard on Italian craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and a more restrained take on modern men’s eyewear.

Ac Magazine sat down with Lauren Howard, design director of Valdo Eyewear, to talk about how the brand is quietly redefining luxury men’s eyewear. Designed in the USA and manufactured in Italy, Valdo launched in 2024 and has quickly gained traction for its considered approach to quality, nuanced detailing, and its accessible price point.

The brand’s name is a nod to Valdobbiadene, the northern Italian town where Valdo’s frames are produced — a deliberate reference to place and process. “The name pays respect to the people and the place where the brand is manufactured,” Howard explained. That Italian heritage is woven throughout the collection, from the choice of materials — including sustainable acetates — to the precision of the build and the signature ‘V’ that is subtly integrated into each custom designed frame.
