Jobson Research examines how the eyewear industry is responding to ongoing tariff-related issues.

As the optical industry enters the new year, Jobson Research conducted a survey of eyecare professionals (ECPs) to gather insight on how tariffs have impacted their businesses and the steps they are taking to reduce financial strain. This latest survey follows three earlier surveys conducted in February, March, and April 2025, each of which found that most respondents were very or somewhat concerned about how the tariffs would affect their cost of goods. Now, having lived with the effects of the tariffs since their implementation on April 2, the January 2026 survey reflects the actual impact: 21 percent of respondents reported increases of 11 to 20 percent on their cost of goods, while six percent reported that the tariffs decreased their bottom line by more than 30 percent.
