Ashan Haritha’s love for jewelry was born in the warmth of his Sri Lankan childhood, where the traditional adornments worn by his family shimmered with history, culture, and the quiet artistry of generations. While those early influences left a lasting impression, Haritha’s personal design sensibility always leaned toward a more modern sense of style: clean lines, bold forms, and unexpected structures.
After moving to the U.S. to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, Haritha found the ideal platform to fuse his traditional roots with his contemporary aesthetic. For his final project in 2019, he created a jewelry collection inspired by nature but reimagined with sharp angles and vivid gemstones. Standout pieces included a citrine centipede bracelet, a garnet spider pin, and a blue topaz scarab brooch. Selected for a museum showcase, the collection quickly sold out through the campus store, marking a turning point.
“That was the moment I realized that maybe I should make more,” he recalled.
