Designers to Watch: Guzema

In the midst of unimaginable freezing temperatures, power outages, and the constant uncertainty of war, Valeriya Guzema creates beauty. Her eponymous fine jewelry brand, founded in 2016 in Ukraine, is a testament to resilience, femininity, and the enduring power of design to uplift the human spirit.

“I wanted to make something very minimalistic that wouldn’t take attention from the beauty of a woman, but would accentuate that beauty,” Guzema shared. “For me it was important that women could use jewelry every day — wake up and go to bed with the same pieces.”

From the onset, her vision was clear: jewelry that is effortless yet meaningful, simple yet transformative. Her earliest inspiration came from the most personal of sources — transforming family heirloom material into modern, wearable art. “The first pieces were made from the gold teeth from my grandfather,” she said.
